A New Challenge!

Hi My Friends, I have a card to show you today that I've made for a challenge for the Facebook group, Kym's Crafty Chicks. The challenge was to create a card that uses a Christmas stamp set for a non-Christmas card.

Here is the stamp set I used.
Holiday Haul Host Photopolymer Stamp Set (150536)
Here is my card.

Card Making Ideas

Hi Everyone, I want to share a few ideas today about making cards. Sometimes it can be hard to get ideas and start your creative juices flowing.
Click here to view a digital copy

When I have this problem, the first thing I reach for my Stampin' Up! catalogue. Sometimes, I even look at the older ones too. There is always so much to see and be inspired by. I love finding little tips on how to do things as I turn the pages. When I do this, I usually have some sticky notes next to me so when I find something I mark it with a sticky note so I can come back to it.

Interestingly, some crafters will tell you, "Just buy it at the discount store!" Well, there is nothing wrong with buying your supplies there if that's what you want. However, when it comes to quality, you can't go past Stampin' Up!'s products. They are quality tested and won't sell supplies that aren't up to the best standard! Case in point, Purple Posy stamp pad... they found that it wasn't stamping well so they tried to correct it. After much testing and replacing the stamp pad to the customers who purchased it, they have decided to discontinue it as it continued to be problematic. Stampin' Up! wants to produce the best products for you. It saves time and ensures you can create amazing projects. There is nothing worse than giving a card and it falling to pieces later.

Here is a video by a lovely crafter, K Werner Designs. She has some great ideas.
Do you have a tip or a hint to make better cards? Share it below in the comment section.

Until next time
Keep inking!

Creating in Sydney!

Hi Everyone just a quick update on my adventures in Sydney with Brad! Today we were going to go on a bus tour but it was full so we decided to walk down to Circular Quay and catch a ferry to Manly.   We had lunch at a local pub near the beach front, looked at some shops and ate some delicious passion fruit sorbet at the ferry terminal. Well, Brad had a salted caramel ice cream with a waffle cone. By this time I had chalked up 11 000 steps and felt spent!i made an executive decision to get an Ola ride back to our apartment. Needless to say, we are both exhausted. We had a chicken salad and now we are relaxing watching TV together!

Tonight after our dinner I finally finished a Stampin’ Up! card kit I’ve been meaning to complete. These kits are so quick and easy to do!

Hope you enjoy your time wherever you are!
Until next time,
Keep smiling!

Did You Know This About Kim Heath?

Hi, welcome to my blog. When I was a little girl I lived with my Nanna for a few years. I loved all of her dresses. I'm sure she had a dress with a very similar pattern as the black background below. As soon as I saw it my mind skipped right back to a time in the early seventies in Murwillumbah, a country town in the North Coast of New South Wales.

I loved it when Nanna wore her going out dresses.  When we went to town, she would always take me to the Austral Cafe, which is still there today. It's nothing of what I remember it but it's still there. Of course, she would buy me a milkshake or sometimes a banana split (which I could never finish!) and before we left she always bought two meat pies.

When we got back home she would heat them up in the electric frypan. While we were eating them she would tell me some yarns of her childhood which usually entailed her adventures of horse riding or killing huge snakes.

Every time I see and use this paper, it brings back long-forgotten memories of my Nanna.

I'm Getting Ready!

clothing items and pair of shoes in luggage

Hey there, my nerves are starting to erupt! Why? Well, tomorrow I'll be in the sky heading for Sydney with Brad. My bag is packed and later today I will be taking Penny my furbaby Brad's dad's place. He has a gorgeous dog named Toby, Penny tolerates him and is always ready to put him in his place. I'm nervous about leaving her but there is no way I'm missing out on going to Stampin' Up!'s OnStage.

Its been 15 years since visiting Sydney but its the first time Brad has experienced the Big Smoke! I'm looking forward to having a little getaway.

Check back for updates!

Bye for now,

And To All A Good Suite!

Hi, hope you are well and safe! I have never seen it so smoky as it has been the last few days! My heart goes out to all the firefighters in New South Wales and Queensland and to all the people who have lost their homes and possessions! It makes me feel so useless seeing all the devastation. However, there is one thing I can do! I can make thank you cards to send to the firefighters' stations. Sometimes, it's the little things that count! Watch this space! If you would like to join me in this little project email me: kimheathstamps@gmail.com

And to all a good Suite
Now for some crafty inspiration... Have you ever wondered what the Toile Tidings Suite is all about? It’s about elegant patterns, beautiful cardinals and festive sentiments. It’s about Christmas wishes, coordinating tags and cards and sparkly enamel embellishments. It’s about creating custom gift bags with the lovely Toile Tidings Gift Wrap, and wrapping each of your hand-picked gifts before you give them to your loved ones. This year, I'm endeavouring to make one hundred Christmas cards. If you would like me to send you one of my cards, send me an email at kimheathstamps@gmail.com with your address.

Toile Tidings

But it’s also about so much more! It’s about beautiful moments, happy memories and spending time with those you hold dear. Recreate these beautiful samples for your friends and family to bring tidings of comfort and joy this season.

DTP Monthly Blog Hop November

Image may contain: text

Hello and thank you for stopping by. I'm so proud to be part of Kylie's DTP Monthly Blog Hop. There is no theme for this blog hop so you are in for a fun, diverse and inspiring adventure as you hop to each blog.  These wonderful card makers are amazing and create such fun projects!
Mine is below!

This is a very simple card to make. I love making Christmas cards that use non-traditional colours!
  • Using the Gorgeous Grape card stock, sponge the Stampin' Up! Basic Decorative Masks (they are stencils) with Gorgeous Grape ink, pressing harder in some areas and less in others. Before you begin, make sure you use some washi tape to hold down the cardstock and the mask.
  • The flowers were cut from the Feels Like Frost Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP).
  • Next, mat the Feels Like Frost purple flowers sheet with Whisper White card stock.
  • Cut the silver foil flowers from the Feels Like Frost DSP then place the flowers behind the mat.
  • Die-cut the stitched shapes circle and stamp with a sentiment from the Itty Bitty Christmas Greetings.
  • Lastly, add some pearls or rhinestones.
Inside of the card: I like to add a piece of Whisper White and stamp on either one side or one edge. Instead of stamping, I sponged part of the mask onto the white at the bottom.

I hope you are inspired to try masking if you haven't already and using non-traditional colours for your Christmas cards. I would love it and appreciate it if you could leave a comment before you leave.

Click on the names below to visit their blog.

If you are interested in making this card, below is what you will need.
