International Blog Highlights / Winners Blog Hop

Hi and Welcome to my blog. I'm so excited about being a part of Kylie's blog hop. It was such a surprise to be in the Top Ten. I want to give a big thank you to everyone who voted for me and an even bigger thank you to Kylie for making this all happen and share part of her blogging life with me (and you).

You may not know but I like very clean and simple cards and I love adding layers. Sometimes adding one layer can make a card seem so much more eye catching! Originally, I wasn't going to put the black layer on this card, it looked great with just the background layer but once I tried it with the thin black layer well I had to use it! There was no going back!

Did you know that Stampin' Up! has new In-Colours available now? My favourite is the Terracotta Tile. I love how it's great for male and female cards. For the background flowers I stamped off, which means you ink up your stamp, stamp the image on a scrap piece of paper then stamp the next image on your card stock. I love how it gives almost a new colour and it goes so well with the new In-Colour Terracotta Tile card stock.

The yellow flowers were stamped with the Terracotta Tile ink and coloured with Stampin Blends. I used Mango Melody and Daffodil Delight. These pens make it easy to create beautifully coloured images. I put two 3-petaled stamp image together after colouring them and cut the created flower in half. Next, I glued them onto the back of the sentiment.

I inked the Old Olive punched leaves with Garden Green Stampin' Ink with a dauber and attached them on the back of the half flowers.
Finally, I attached the ribbon to the back of the black layer before I glued it on to the Terracotta Tile base.

Make sure with the black layer, you punch out or die cut the shapes you need for the card and some for another project. I really hate wasting cardstock or anything, for that matter! The white shape that has the sentiment on it was actually cut from a white layer for another card. The black edging of this sentiment was punched from this card's black layer. Cut it in half and arrange behind the sentiment.

I hope you have enjoyed your time here. If you have any questions about the card, don't hesitate to email me.  If you don't already have a Stampin' Up! demonstrator and you live in Australia, I would love to help you with all your crafting needs.

Below is a list of the very talented international demonstrators who are the Top Ten Winners participating in this blog hop. I am so inspired by all of these amazing crafters!

Below are the items I used for my card above.

One Very Painful Afternoon!

Image result for ambulance queensland
Hi Friends, yesterday ended up being painfully interesting! Well, more painful than interesting! I live in a townhouse complex and I'm on the body corporate committee. One of the things I volunteered to do was turning the sprinklers on and that's what I was doing yesterday afternoon! I had to go and turn them off and all was well until the second last tap!
I took a photo of something that wasn't right with the garden, turned around and stumbled, almost fell but didn't but in the process somehow I had sublaxed my shoulder. That means that it was kind of out of the socket but not fully!

All I can say is Oh My Gosh! I've had some painful injuries and had two childbirths but this pain was off the scale! Thankfully, my good friend was home so I staggered up to her unit and rang her as I couldn't even open her gate. That was only the beginning.

Very long story, short... after Xrays and cutting my shirt off, the doctors tried massaging it back in, NOPE! Then they gave me laughing gas, man I was sucking on that little tube like there was no tomorrow!!! NOPE it didn't work! Lastly, they had to knock me out with a local and a tonne of Ketamine, well it ended up to at least 100 mg!

Later the Dr told me that she was surprised at the amount of pain relief that I needed! Well, what a trip I had coming out of it! I can't explain what it was like but it was a trip indeed! I was so grateful that they let me come home and that I can move my shoulder... gingerly! I have to have it in a sling for a few days. The stumble happened at 4:30ish and I didn't get home until after 11pm. (PS I have Vascular Ehlers Danlos Syndrome which is a connective tissue disorder.) I'm just so shocked that just a stumble could throw it almost out like that!

Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalogue Meets My Crafty Dog

Living in a townhouse complex means that unless I'm out, I know that the postie is coming with goodies. You see, I have to open the gates with a few numbers on my phone and the gate opens (unless you forget the numbers!!!)  Today took a few tries to let the postie in but finally she arrived and handed me the BBB (big brown box).  My dog Penny, who was inside, was yapping as all little dogs do when they hear a new voice, sometimes they can bark at absolutely nothing. I get back in, put the box down, then Penny (Shih Tzu x foxie x chihuahua) starts scratching it.  Of course she knew it was my Stampin' Up! order with the new products from the Holiday Catalogue.

When I looked at her, I swear that her eyes were saying "Yay! Stampin' Up! is here!" Her tail was wagging vigorously and even some drool was starting to dip on to the tiles. Excited was an understatement!

Before I could even get the new Holiday Catalogues out of the box, she had jumped up on one chair and leaped to the chair I had the box on. Even Penny couldn't wait to see all the new stamps, dies, ribbon and so much more! Check her out loving being in the box of Stampin' Up! supplies! It's like heaven for a crafty pooch like Penny!

Here she is listening for another box to come but sadly it didn't happen!

I asked her if she wanted to do some crafting, this was look she gave me! What do you think she is saying?

I asked her to look for the new Holiday Catalogues but she saw the ribbon and she thought it would make the best Christmas lead and collar.  She thinks it could even be a toy like a frisbee! She loves toys! However, she loves the new Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalogue even more than treats!

Finally, she looks at me like "Stop this photo thing and lets get unpacking and crafting!" Well, I couldn't argue with that, could I?

Here am I, salivating over the new Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalogue!  You are going to love it as much I do!

Here is a sneaky peak of some of the products. I will be unboxing it tomorrow. Keep an eye out for a video showcasing the products that I bought.

Happy Crafting!

International Blog Highlights August 2019

How does it work?
Each month Kylie Bertucci holds an International Card makers competition on her blog, the theme is encouragement.

Flowers always get my attention! When I saw this stamp set in the Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue, I knew I had to have it.  I first saw it at OnStage in New Zealand in March this year and I ordered it straight away!

The flower was made using Whisper White cardstock stamped with the four flower images in Rich Razzleberry Classic ink and punched them using the Perennial Flower Punch. I used the Petal Pink and Rococo Rose Blends to add colour and dimension to the petals. I also punched the Granny Apple Green cardstock with the Leaf Punch and inked the edges with Garden Green Classic ink.

The background was so easy to create. I used the Rococo Rose Classic ink on the Whisper White cardstock but stamped off once (that means you stamp the image on some scrap paper then the next stamp is on the cardstock). It gives a lighter shade of the ink. Next, I backed the Whisper White on to the Basic Black cardstock.  The Rococo Rose Scalloped Linen Ribbon was adhered with glue dots to the back of the black cardstock. Then the whole piece was attached to the Rococo Rose cardstock using the Multipurpose Liquid Glue. This glue gives you some room for movement if you don't centre your card front the first time. Trust me, I have wasted so much cardstock before I realised the value of using this glue!  I layered the petals and placed the leaves behind. To get the dimension, I used the Mini Stampin' Dimensionals. These are a staple in my craft space!

Next, I stamped the sentiment from the Beautiful You stamp set and punched it out using the Timeless Label Tag punch. I also punched one out with the Basic Black cardstock but I cut the tag in half across the longest part, using my Paper Snips. I've used a lot of scissors since 2000 when I first started scrapbooking, and I personally think these are the best on the market. I glued the black pieces of the tag onto the back of the sentiment leaving a border and glued it onto the card. I also added a rhinestone in the corner.

Lastly, I always like to stamp the inside of my cards. Before I added a Whisper White piece of card, I stamped it with a sentiment in the middle and used another image from the stamp set to stamp the edges.
