I found a company that did scrapbooking. I had never heard of anything like it before and I was instantly hooked! It didnt take long to find other scrapbooking people, shops and supplies. I loved it! I'd go to classes, friend's homes to crop and I even went to a retreat at Bribie Island, Queensland.
In 2001 my marriage ended. By that time I was working as a teacher aide at my children's school close by. The teachers kept encouraging me to go to uni to become a teacher. Long story short, in 2005, I began my undergraduates degree in Education. Fast forward to 2008, I graduated and got a job teaching.
I soon realised that my days of scrapbooking were behind me. At that time, pocket scrapbooking hadn't been invented by Becky Higgins, who was the guru in the scrapbooking world.
Stampin' Up! arrived in Australia and not long after I fell in love with their stamps, their paper, their colours. I didn't buy very much at that time as I was really into creating with the Cricut although I kept my eye on their catalogue.
I really didnt get into stamping until my Prep teacher aid went on holidays in 2010 and was replaced for three weeks with a teacher aide named Lisa. One day she was talking about a card class she was doing. Of course our conversations were all about cards and she even brought in some cards to show me and gave me a catalogue!
I eventually signed up with Lisa so I could get the demonstrator discount. My love for Stampin' Up! continued to grow! I loved their colours, stamp designs and how easy it was because everything
co-ordinated. When I signed up, my card making world expanded. As a demonstrator, you get to join a Facebook group just for demonstrators. WOW it was and continues to be an amazing place and resource! I couldn't believe how friendly all the demonstrators were and keen to help. I had found my happy place! It was and continues to be... Stampin' Up!
Fast forward to 2018/2019
Im now part of Chrissy's team and still loving Stampin' Up!
Creating and friendship, why wouldn't I want to stamp!
Here I am at two team events.
So why did I start stamping?
At first it was because I needed a creative outlet as scrapbooking was way too time consuming. I saw stamping could be as quick and simple or I could do more complicated cards when I had more time. Soon stamping became a social event at Lisa's home with other like minded ladies.
Below is one of my Christmas cards that I made for 2018.
I would love for you to make a comment. Are you a stamper, card maker, paper crafter? I would love to hear you story.
